The mission of SpaceData International LLC (SDI) is to provide a very high-speed, cost-effective turnkey data transmission solution for large seismic data files directly from marine seismic acquisition vessels worldwide to terrestrial seismic data processing centers, using a constellation of NASA communications satellites. SDI has developed SeismicStar, the fastest data transmission service in the world, which currently operates at 311 Mb/s and can be upgraded to 466 Mb/s. SeismicStar is an automated, turn key, point to point service delivering data on a daily scheduled basis, providing large data files generally within 24 hours from when the data is resident on the SDI provided shipboard system to the customer's land based processing center. SDI has completed a very successful 12-month sea trial for the largest seismic exploration company in the world, transferring over 13 terabytes of data without error.
